Baltimore-based artist Red Skies Mourning, led by singer/songwriter Chris Aleshire, offers an introspective journey with their latest album, Myosotis, released on October 25, 2024. Produced by CESAR and co-written with Ryan Curtis, Myosotis dives deep into reflecting on all the nuances of life and the relationships that surround and enter us and jam into love, loss, and self-discovery.
Opening the album with a powerful punch, “Already Know” immediately captivates with its electrifying, rumbling, punchy instrumentals and enthralling and exhilarating vocals. Aleshire’s voice comes off as charismatic while pouring his emotions and all his heart out.
“Obvious” tackles the digital disconnect in modern relationships, with sharp, brooding synths that create an intense backdrop amidst Aleshire’s contemplative and haunting voice. The song’s moody atmosphere and piercing instrumentals evoke a sense of longing.
In “Alone Nowhere,” Aleshire’s vocal performance brings a dreaminess to this reflective track. He sings emotionally, that somehow makes you think and definitely relate. The melody is gentle yet resonant, as he sings, “There’s nothing close that’s better, we move as light as feathers.
“Satellite” reflects the narrator’s yearning and regret with a steady beat that pulses alongside emotionally charged lyrics. Aleshire sings about wanting to be close to a former lover, desiring to support them from afar as long as they could be around.
