Live at The Pie Shop DC by Rise Defy: Review
The aggression and flow of metal are prominently present in the hardcore band Rise Defy. Performing original tracks such as “Shellshocked” and “Long Road Home”, they truly showcase grit and vocal prowess in their numbers while live on stage! Rhythmically, the band’s music has solid guitar sections that pertain to grunge, along with Motörhead inspired bass bits.
Metal has been my gateway to musical culture ever since I was a mere teenager. So, bands as stimulating as Rise Defy struck a chord with rebels such as yours truly. Upon hearing “Shellshocked”, the band’s melodic nature was vastly comprehended. They involve a bit of thrash metal, however, the bass is amped up for a refreshing take on the genre. Aside from that, the vocalist’s force is quite immersive and he controls the song’s drive. Next up, was “Long Road Home” which is an animalistic melody that absolutely grooves with its fast-paced guitar riffs and thunderous drumming. All in all, the song is ideal to get a crowd moving especially at a rock show! Because the energy needs to stay intact with your audience and Rise Defy did an excellent job at doing that.
With two astounding tracks under their belt, the Rise Defy truly displayed a polished musical craft. So, without any hesitation, I decided to hear their tracks and understand a little bit about their musical depth. I believe to have come across equal amounts of confidence, thrill, and diversity while hearing the exuberant metal sound of Rise Defy.
