The duo, lomipo’s latest single, “Lost in December,” is one of those touching, anguishing yet easy-to-listen and relatable heartbreak songs that you can’t stop vibing to.
“Lost in December” opens with strumming guitars and harmonies, setting a reflective and contemplative tone. Soon after Shai Pinto’s youthful, soft and husky voice comes through. His vocals are full of emotion, as he sings about feeling lost and adrift after a breakup. He opens the song with these striking lines, “This year won’t pass, I confess/I still want you,” soaked in desperate agony and capturing the feeling of being stuck in a moment of pain and sorrow.
The best thing about this song is that it’s about the singer’s own break-up. He allows his listeners to connect to him with his own personal struggles. He sings about him being “lost in December” with his girl.
Tinged with a desperate, hopeless sorrow, Pinto sings over bustling drums spreading its vibrancy on the song along with momentum. Under reverbed muffled vocals, as if drenched in tears and pain all misted and confused, in the verse, he goes into detail about his story and what’s up since then.
lomipo’s “Lost in December,” crafted from start to finish at Orian’s NYC home studio, is a beautiful and haunting song that will stay with you long after it’s over. But the good news is, the singer has gotten back with his girl so we can say the song was a sort of lucky charm.
