Lisbon-based producer Solar Soundz steps up with Loyalty & Respect, a 10-track EP that digs its heels in hip-hopโs roots and builds from there. Blending boom bap grit with flashes of modern trap, the project feels like a meeting point between generations, where seasoned legends and newer voices trade bars over beats that hit the head and the gut. At its core, this is about principles, loyalty, respect, survival, and yeah, it doesnโt sugarcoat any of it.
Right off the bat, โSAMCROโ sets the tone with a low, buzzing undercurrent and slow, thumping drums that feel like theyโre marching through concrete. The verses come in sharp and relentless, each rapper slicing through the distortion with precision. The delivery is fast, crisp, and heavy with intentโno wasted breath, no filler.
Then comes the title track, โLoyalty & Respect,โ which eases into a more hypnotic groove. The production leans into a calmer, almost entrancing soundscape before the beat drops in, clean, steady, and undeniably catchy. The first verse rolls out in a moody, grounded tone, but things quickly switch gears as a thicker, more commanding voice hooks the chorus. By the time the next verse hits, thereโs a noticeable swagger, louder, sharper, and just a bit smug, like someone who knows exactly where they stand.
Later on, โBuilt on Willโ slows things down into something heavier, more reflective. The atmosphere turns dense, almost shadowy, while the beat knocks in that classic head-nodding rhythm. The bars hit deeper here, especially as he sings, โI was raised by wolves,โ carrying a kind of hard-earned wisdom that lingers long after the track fades.
Loyalty & Respect plants its flag. And you are welcome to witness the showcase on Spotify.
