Stockholm, Sweden-based project Me & Melancholy, helmed by musician and producer Peter Ehrling brings to you electronic music that evokes emotions and sensations with his latest album. Under Cover, part 2, released on Aug 30, gives you immersive synths, heartfelt lyrics and nostalgic beats all under a collection of tracks.
“The sun and the rainfall” opens Under Cover, part 2 with sizzling and shimmering, high-frequency melodies sending shivers down your body. Over that, the beats drop hard like pelleting raindrops. Topping it off, relaxing, soft vocals come through the pulsation like a sedative. And of course, the backing vocals bring a layer to the enigma.
“This Modern Love” intertwines a sparkling mixture of instrumentals that evoke the imagery of flickering sunlight. Meanwhile, the beats keep us nodding away to the rhythm. On the other hand, “Socker” opens with the zooming synth lines immersively steadying us, while the soundscape enlarges and expands. Despite the rhythm, this piece is one to give you the buzz.
“Major Leagues” builds with twirling synth waves and beats, only for the music to become more vibrant and unexpectedly uplifting, like the clear sky after it has rained. The refrain will hypnotize you and engulf you in good vibes only.
Under Cover, part 2 ends with “Lovesong.” The song is hypnotic and entrancing at best, with a groovy beat over calm. The refrain, “Whenever I am alone with you, you make me feel like I am home again” gets us in the mood with the slow and soothing delivery. Only until the crescendo, do the music surprises with the backing vocals joining him with her complementary angelic vocals.
