By day, Hidden Shores is shaping young minds in a Belgian classroom; by night, theyโre sculpting emotive electronic worlds where human feeling and AI voices quietly collide. Their EP Neon Silence leans right into that tension between circuitry and soul, using artificial vocals as a ghostly narrator for grief, memory, and presence. Itโs intimate, cinematic, and just strange enough to feel like it arrived from some neon-lit future.
Opening track โNo-one Lives Foreverโ sets the tone with a surprisingly jolly ride. Harmonious horns, soothing guitar riffs, and steady drums glide beneath a delicate, gentle, vulnerable, almost breakable AI voice. While the groove feels uplifting, the song wrestles with mortality and lingering attachment, like a bittersweet smile hiding a lump in the throat.
Then โRows Of Housesโ turns the EP into full-on theatre. Operatic choirs wail ethereally over a gritty, suspenseful soundscape, while a male voice soars to the top of his range before dropping into a gravelly lower register. The childlike voice that appears in the bridge is the masterstroke, albeit only giving a short cameo. Itโs soft, haunting, and unsettling in the best way, amplifying the sense of being watched by your own memories as backing vocals chant over thumping beats.
โWhere The Light Still Reaches โ Radio Editโ slows everything down into a soulful, widescreen meditation on loss and survivorโs guilt. Deep, weathered AI vocals move gently over shimmering atmospheres, then rumbling beats arrive like distant thunder. It feels like a letter from someone on the other side, asking you to keep living without drowning in โwhat ifs.โ
Closer โStay Right Hereโ shifts from cosmic to kitchen-floor real. Soft beats, husky intimate vocals, and immersive production turn cold coffee, dusty sunlight, and looping overthinking into something almost sacred.
