Nomenklatür releases captivating new song ‘When The Wind Blows’
On October 18, Nomenklatür released their new EP ‘When The Wind Blows’ on Clivage Music, fusing techno, electro-house, and synthpop. The new Nomenklatür project is described as mysterious, intense, and bewitching.
The French duo has moved between techno, tech-house, and synthpop over the years, always remaining devoted to their collection of synthesisers from every era. They first gained notoriety in 2009 on David Carretta’s Space Factory label.
The two members of the project ask Franco-American vocalist Odge to participate on the ‘When The Wind Blows’ EP, and her deep, ethereal voice is the ideal counterpoint to Nomenklatür’s sound, which consists of dark lyrics and raw, ethereal production. The EP sits at the nexus of techno, tech-house, and electro-pop.
‘When The Wind Blows’, the EP’s title track, invites us into a strange, metallic world draped in saturated synth sounds, intertwining with the dreamlike vocals of Odge. It is turbulent, saturated, and sensual.
The song ‘After Life’, which combines melancholy and hope, steers the EP in a different direction with its bassline and unsettling breathiness. Despite its seeming feminine, elegant nonchalance, the slow tech-house rhythm of ‘My Something’ doesn’t shun EBM basslines.
The EP’s lone instrumental track, ‘Satori’, is a slow, woozy, progressive techno track designed for dancing.
Nomenklatür revisit a retro-futurist, mystifying aesthetic full of potential with this dark electronic project.
