Harry Kappen gets contemplating and desiring for warmth in the wintry months with his latest single, “One Life.” Released on December 1, the song captures the need to connect with a loved one while living amidst the chaos, destruction, and climate change.
The track begins with soothing guitar riffs and an immersive sound that sets a contemplative tone. As slow, heavy drums thump down, Kappen’s deep voice gets ethereal and light, expressing a longing for a life spent with a special someone, seeking warmth, safety, and connection.
As the song progresses, it builds to an anthemic climax in the bridge, with driven guitars driving the emotional intensity to its peak. As a music therapist, he sure knows his game and more about how to infuse much empathy in his music. He has immense control over his instruments, being a multi-instrumentalist, to effect the right emotion and heal us, especially the younger generation, with his meditative touch.
“One Life” is only a preview of what comes next. Kappen has a full-length album of the same name, coming up this year. We will get 11 songs, wrapped in rock, funk, pop and ballads, to keep ourselves engaged. If you love the greats like David Bowie, Paul McCartney, Prince, and Radiohead, you will find yourself very much enthused in Kappen too.
Listen to the immersive and wistful ballad, “One Life” by Harry Kappen and feel yourself comforted through the chaos.
