Projekt Darkstar released groovy new song ‘IV-V-I (451)’
The alternative punk song ‘IV-V-I’ by Projekt DarkStar was written to preserve the cautions found in Ray Bradbury’s classic dystopian novel ‘Fahrenheit 451’.
Band leader FS Thomson explains that the lyrics “refer to [the main character] Montag’s transformation from state destroyer of the written word, into a holy soul dedicated to preserving it” (Steve).
There are clear parallels to the present as we approach the 70th anniversary of Bradbury’s classic, which was written in the years leading up to McCarthy (1953) and the ‘Second Red Scare’, such as the “cancellation” of “alternative” viewpoints on social media. Additionally mentioned on Projekt’s earlier releases (‘Feed the Fear’ and ‘Sovran’) were the media and the never-ending promotion of the gap between “haves” and “have-nots.”
