Amara Fe steps into the spotlight with her debut album, Reborn. Rooted in her familyโs rich musical history, be it the stories of her uncle Eugene and Rene jamming in Tulsa, or her grandmother penning songs for Minnie Riperton, Amara channels that heritage into a body of work thatโs all about authenticity, independence, and joy. After years of writing for others, she decided to take control of her vision, producing Reborn herself, to create an album that speaks like a diary but shines like a stage light.
The opening track, โToo Good for That,โ opens with snapping fingers and a smooth piano riff, building a catchy atmosphere. Her rich, sassy, and undeniably confident voice glides over the groove with the effortless poise that makes you lean in closer. She sings, โI donโt chase boys who forget my name,โ empowering as she takes back her worth after being wronged.
Then comes โUnscripted,โ arguably one of the standout moments of the record. It kicks off with the most engaging concoction of catchy hooky building notes alongside snapping fingers and a heavy thump, while she sings with her powerful, smoky, crisp voice. She belts about how she doesnโt abide by any rules and lives unscripted. The breathtaking synergy that just happens when the production climbs and her voice just belts through with an unstoppable freedom is insane.
Later, โExpectationsโ slows things down into something darker and more cinematic. With trembling, almost ghostly percussion, her vocals become their smokiest as she sings of expectations having nothing on her.
All in all, Reborn is Amara Fe planting her flag. Confident, soulful, and refreshingly unfiltered, itโs available on Spotify.
