Do you love great, meaningful lyrics? There’s a chance you have heard them, but do they always accompany a tender and rich voice? “Right Person, Wrong Time” features the dulcet soprano timbre and passionate tone of Libby Johnston. Her voice is the luminary of the number, but let’s not forget the producer behind the mixing: Santino Cardinale.
Behind the synth-pop/ dream-pop/ electropop track “Right Person, Wrong Time” are synth waves and hints of electropop delicately interwoven in the musical atmosphere inspired by “Call it What You Want” by Taylor Swift. It’s soothing, to say the least, but mostly it provides her melting mellifluousness more ground and space.
Libby’s debut single refers to a relationship where exclusivity seems too good to be true. Her lover never prioritizes her enough and hangs her in-between other partners with the words, “right person, wrong time.” He further appeases her, saying, “I am never not on your mind.” So you hear her making excuses to herself and her friends while defending behavior and romanticizing lies.
We would have never heard this song if Libby Johnston had never pushed her doubts aside and hopped on the bandwagon. She felt she was never vocally good enough. But we don’t feel that way! When this 23-year-old aspiring musician, dancer, singer, and songwriter soars, her voice shines like a beacon. The dreamy synths fill the space, and nothing else is required to accompany her voice. So, make sure to check out “Right Person, Wrong Time” by Libby Johnston.
