Rise and Shine with Touray’s lively track “Bitter Morning”
Mamour Touray grew up as a guitarist for local bands, but the Global Pandemic put an abrupt pause on his musical career. He then walked up to the microphone to write and sing songs that were unique and personal to him, continuing to make music but as a solo artist while yet retaining the full band indie rock feel. Touray is a multi-instrumentalist who records, produces, and mixes all of the instruments used in his music at home.
“Bitter Morning” was written after Touray discarded a whole EP because it was not “perfect.” This song describes a time when the artist was suffering from extreme depression. The inspiration for the lyrics came to him as he was at a park reading poetry and lost in a dialogue with the blazing sun. This song was inspired by an extremely therapeutic chat. The track is melancholic, yet lively and energizing, balancing the difference between sadness and optimism, with the hope that one day the sun would shine brightly for the individual in the song who longs for happiness.
“Bitter Morning” is filled with a fierce drum arrangement and powerful guitar chords. Touray’s vocal skills have that distinct indie rock and a bit of grunge feel to them. Overall, the track is quite wholesome and has a very consistently steady pace to it. One of the most sought-after portions of the tracks is the vibrating sections where the electric guitars go full throttle. This is where the gain is amped up and the strummed chords feel more prominent. All the while it is quite remarkable!
