Pascal Boyerโs โRun Awayโ is a rupture, a break in the ground, a crack in the shell, and a necessary escape hatch carved to refuse to stay trapped. Released in September and woven into his new EP safe with us, the track comes as a moment of transformation captured in real time. Pascal leans fully into post-metalโs emotional extremes, building a crushing, cinematic, and painfully intimate atmosphere. The song claws toward evolution, toward a version of themselves that refuses stagnation.
The track opens in a long, immersive swell, with heavy music flowing like thick, placid water beneath soft rustling beats that flicker at the edges. Then the low rapping percussion settles in, giving the piece a pulse just as the soundscape blooms into the atmospheric and the expanding, wrapping around the listener like brume. Out of that haze comes Oleksiiโs raspy and gritty voice, dragging its weight as if every word costs him something. He moves slowly, heavily, letting each line trail off like smoke from a blown-out flame, while the cymbals spark sharp and bright, sizzling and splitting open the otherwise shadowy expanse with their sharp flashes.
As the tension builds, the track evolves, as the beats thump harder, the guitars stretch wider, and the atmosphere engulfs us, as from far off, agonizing yells erupt, raw and pained, like the sound of someone tearing themselves free. Through the haze emerge haunting female harmonies wailing and merging with the ambience. Itโs a whole new look to escapism, that shows how chaos and beauty bleed together, and the human and the ethereal finally sharing one lung, away from urbanity.
โRun Awayโ is a threshold moment for Pascal Boyer, declaring change, by emotional gravity. Itโs a song about breaking out, even when breaking hurts. Listen to it on Spotify.
