‘S Lebn by Lilly & Georg Witsch: Album Review

If you’re in the mood to open your mind to 44 minutes of soulful jazz music, let the duo Lilly and Georg Witsch appear on your next stream, revealing a performance for their album ‘S Lebn which was released back in July of 2021.
Genre-wise Lilly and Georg stretch out everything from lounge to contemporary pop, jazz, and soul across 10 different tracks. On the other hand, they are musical telltales featuring languages between High German, Bavarian in a variety of styles to portray the duo’s range, expertise, and personality. You go on a wild ride from song to song, with detours so varied and high-quality that you have no choice but to give in. From their debut track “ag ma wias da geht” igniting a spark between Lilly’s alluring voice and Georg’s instrumentals and rhythms, to the pleasant synth-driven harmonic surprises from “Wia a Fisch im Wasser” to electronic meets piano depicting fairytale sounds of “Sommer” to the French accordion experience of “Spieglen, Spieglen” – it is a delightful progression! The album switches up the tempo with “Auf and Ab” and “Regentropfen” alters it with tones of R&B and saxophone takeaways.
After listening to ‘S Lebn, I learned that music knows no boundaries when you can resonate with the artist’s craftsmanship or truly become an admirer. Lilly and Georg are masterful, poetic, and cinematic with their creations, and that language is only one aspect of music. There is a bigger picture here to get hooked on.
