Honeyvolt’s debut EP, Sky on Fire, is a high-energy exploration of rock, filled with intense riffs and soul-stirring lyrics. Founded by Alan James Ponce in Atlanta, Honeyvolt creates each track from scratch. With production support from Nashville engineer Galen Crew, this EP captures the raw, independent spirit of a musician finding his own path.
The title track opens with electrifying guitar riffs, instantly engaging with a catchy rhythm section that builds into a soaring chorus. Ponce’s vocals are full of grit and passion, growing more vigorous as the song unfolds. The combination of driving drums and blazing guitar makes “Sky on Fire” an anthem about the burning pursuit of independence, set against a backdrop of fiery soundscapes.
“Red Moon Rising” kicks off with a rousing yell, capturing the feeling of being on stage. Gritty guitars and pounding drums create a dark, anthemic atmosphere, while Ponce’s passionate vocals narrate a haunting, almost apocalyptic scene. Lyrics like “Crimson light against the sky, red moon rising in your eyes” convey a haunting intensity, blending rock energy with imagery of signs and wonders in the night.
With a churning guitar groove and crashing drums, “Break Me Down” is an explosive track about resilience and refusal to surrender. The sharp, fervent vocals drive home the lyrics, as Ponce sings about being torn down only to rise again, culminating in a scorching guitar solo. The song pulses with energy, each verse building toward the powerful refrain of “Not gonna break me, baby.”
Sky on Fire is just the beginning for Honeyvolt, with these three tracks setting the stage for a debut album heavily inspired by classic rock bands like Cream and Led Zeppelin, as well as Southern rock legends The Allman Brothers Band. Already gaining momentum with nearly 20,000 streams and playlist features, Honeyvolt is here to rock your playlist.
