Slow Burner by The Palfreyman Collective: Review
The gritty rock sound from The Palfreyman Collective is incredible to hear. Their track “Slow Burner” is a classic rock and blues number that is simply epic and accompanies a solid rhythm section.
First things first, the most surprising bit from the song. I was immersed in “Slow Burner” mentally ticking off melodic aspects that made its guitar-driven song gripping. Suddenly, out of freakin’ nowhere a saxophone solo enters the horizon and lets loose an incredible jazzy sequence. The Palfreyman Collective’s performance of the song was already filled with bursts of energy that seemingly hit one stellar note after another. On top of that, an additional genre twist was bold and delightful to hear. Aside from the instrumental prowess, the singer has this raspy vintage rock essence. He enters the melody and completely owns it. The song is polished with high-pitched rock-esque patterns and a powerful ode to carry it forward.
In particular portions of the song, the bass guitar sequences take the center stage. Even though it is the bloodline for “Slow Burner”, the instrument’s individual sections kept the song’s flow intact. Speaking of which, the tune is a proper melodic journey. Moving from one tempo to another, and gradually building its rhythmic force, The Palfreyman Collective nailed it when it came to musical synergy. Altogether, if you’re seeking a song that screams rock and roll, and manages to satisfy an edgy hook, look no further than “Slow Burner.”
