Someone Better by YME: Review
“Someone Better”– the title itself defines the feeling towards a previous love partner who has broken up and now you are consoling your heart saying that someday the right person will come and knock at your doors. The singer reminisces the deepest feelings that she once felt for someone and it turned out to be a dream that had to end. And now, she wants to find love again. She wants to find a home in a form of a person. Her safe-havens.
The whole song was entirely carried by YME’s vocals where she carefully focused on the pitch, and her tone conveyed a level of emotion and depth. It gives a subtle flavor of the ‘80s as what is usually perceived in alternative pop-rock songs. There is a variety of musical styles that ties together since they existed outside of the mainstream. There’s an independence in the musical arrangement that goes steady till the beat drops.
Ymkje de Bijl And Marco Roosink are the band members putting vocals and producing. They are inspired by ‘80s’ sounds and Billie Eilish. YME participated in the biggest Retro festival in the UK, “Let’s Rock UK 2022”. Moreover, this track was recorded at the green valley Music Studio in Arnhem. YME struggled for many years to find her spot in the music industry due to her autism.
