Songs with Eva by Eyði Horsdal: Album Review
Eyði Horsdal is a poetic artist from the Faroe Islands with a tale of melodies to share in the album “Songs with Eva.” Each track on this record has soft acoustic layers that melt into heartwarming vocals. Aside from that, fans who seek clean folk tunes with a relaxing aura will enjoy Eyði Horsdal’s work, which I did with full certainty!
The album opens up with the pleasantness of “It Seems To Be You Again” and “Old Friends.” Both the numbers are delightfully chill and can be the perfect lullaby for a cozy night in. Acoustic passages are met with the wonder of minimal synths and keys. In addition to that, elegant singers enchant our senses and keep us hooked on the cadence. Upon reaching the piano-heavy song “Foolish Blue,” I felt a deepness in my chest, the melancholy hit my soul, and it was a mesmerizing hymn to experience. The experimental nature of “How I Awoke” stunned me, especially its intro of synths, piano, and avant-garde strings. Furthermore, once I arrived at the sound of “The Train Station,” a wave of calm hit me. The charming singers and minimal rhythm bits create a melodic flow that puts your worries at ease.
A resonance of indie-folk forms in “In Silence Somewhere,” which is an evocative melody filled with mysterious acoustic bits and lovely stringed portions. Overall, Eyði Horsdal’s album is a stellar mix of folk and ambient too, that I’m positive the masses would be overjoyed at.
