Ann Aaratโs Stay Awake is a slow descent into a dream state. With her roots in Delhi and her artistic evolution now unfolding in New York, Ann (formerly known as Taceล) brings a haunting, cinematic sensibility to her work that speaks of late nights, fractured thoughts, and a search for self through sound. Currently studying Songwriting and Production at Berklee College of Musicโs NYC campus, sheโs channeling her experiences across continents into a textured, emotionally intimate sonic language.
Stay Awake opens with a low, lazy electronic humโmoody, shadowy, and thick with atmosphere. Annโs dazed, husky vocals enter like a confession in a darkened room: ambient, lonely, and surrendered. As the track unfolds, subtle pulses begin to flicker beneath the surface with buzzing distortions, glitchy ticks, and swelling, heaving textures that feel more felt than heard. The beat remains slow and minimal, but it moves with purpose, like a heartbeat refusing to sleep. Her voice melts into the sound design, at times barely distinguishable from the flickering electronics, creating an immersive, ghostly effect.
True to her vision, Ann uses only field recordings, vocal manipulations, and Abletonโs stock tools to craft the songโs soundscape. Itโs minimalist, deliberate, meditative, and filled with an eerie intimacy. Thereโs a visceral vulnerability in how she allows silence and noise to coexist. The result is a deeply ambient, experimental piece that feels like floating through an insomniacโs consciousness.
More art installation than mainstream track, Stay Awake is aesthetic, emotional, and relatable. With her background in DJ culture, sound design, and a growing interest in film scoring, Ann knows to vibe with transparency and softness. Stay tuned for more such buzzes.
