Ruut enters a defining new chapter with the reissue of โSteinway Sessionsโ, marking the beginning of an exclusive catalog deal with Meridian (ECR Music Group) ahead of her forthcoming album Motherland. The Finnish-born, Baltimore-based artist โ recognized as Finlandia Foundationโs 2026 Performer of the Year โ revisits one of her most intimate works, now carefully remastered by producer and ECR President Blake Morgan.
Originally recorded in 2010 inside a Steinway atelier, โSteinway Sessionsโ captures Ruut in a deeply personal and formative period. The collection, built around solo piano and vocal performances, reflects a time of searching, growth, and early motherhood. In its remastered form, the album is presented with renewed clarity, offering both new listeners and longtime followers a more detailed and immersive experience of the original recordings.
From the first moments, the project centers on simplicity and emotional presence. Ruutโs voice, described as pure and understated, sits at the heart of the recordings, supported only by piano arrangements that emphasize space and nuance. This stripped-back approach allows the songwriting to take focus, highlighting themes of self-reflection and acceptance that continue to resonate years later.
The lead track, โLife Is Beautifulโ encapsulates this perspective, reflecting on the realization that imperfection and circumstance can lead to unexpected clarity and purpose. It signals the tone of a project rooted in honesty and lived experience.
Ruut not only revisits a pivotal body of work but also sets the stage for what comes next, reinforcing her artistic identity while introducing her music to a broader audience.
