Tessa Violet Releases New Single “Breakdown” Ahead of Headlining Tour in 2022. Tessa’s new single is the latest taste of her upcoming sophomore album.
Tessa Violet, an artist and composer, has released her new single, “BREAKDOWN,” today. Tessa’s new single is the latest taste of her upcoming sophomore album.
The new track maintains Tessa’s new era’s energy, delivering a one-two punch of sleek alt-rock and earworm electro-pop that defines Tessa’s own sonic domain. The driving track, which is backed by shapeshifting production, is a feisty celebration of life’s unavoidable lows, which Tessa describes as “a new bottom and you think f it, dance party in hell.”
Tessa’s 2022 North American headline tour, which will commence up on August 30 and visit 23 cities, will be announced alongside the new single. On Friday, May 27, at 9 a.m. PT/12 p.m. ET, tickets will go on sale. Tessa will be performing at the Bottlerock festival this weekend. See the table below for a complete list of dates. Tickets can be purchased here.
Tessa will join Cavetown on their EU+UK fall 2022 tour as direct support, with Orla Gartland on select dates, shortly after concluding her headline tour. Tessa’s tour follows her direct support spot on Cavetown’s spring 2022 North American tour. Below is a complete list of Cavetown tour dates.
The single “YES MOM,” a bombastic self-love manifesto that has already racked up 12 million Spotify streams and landed Tessa on the cover of Spotify’s SALT playlist, as well as launching a new Genius ‘Verified,’ was released in spring 2022. The song has accumulated 70K+ unique TikTok creates with 350 million views on Tessa’s creates alone, thanks to a major self-launched TikTok craze.
Tessa’s self-released debut album, Bad Ideas, from 2019, laid the groundwork for her place among the top growing musicians in alternative pop. Tessa’s album won her a spot on Spotify’s Times Square billboard, and her popular tune “Crush” has had approximately 300 million total streams.
Tessa took her own course through 2020/21, rewriting numerous hits from Bad Ideas, including duets with MisterWives on “Bored” and Chloe Moriondo on “Words Ain’t Enough,” despite being stymied by the epidemic and having her planned album tour canceled. PAPER, LADYGUNN, and Hollywood Life all praised Tessa’s remarkable rework of single “Games” with L.A. indie rock outfit lovelytheband and its Twilight-inspired video. Tessa’s single “Wishful Drinking” was also given some attention following her enormous TikTok trend, which now has over 225k unique videos.
Tessa kept enthusiastic followers involved on the live side by announcing the launch of an exclusive livestream event, ‘Bad Ideas: The Experience,’ which took place in May 2021 as a last celebration of Bad Ideas. Tessa also worked on a number of livestream performances with sites like SPIN, Bandsintown, and EARMILK, and was named “Artist of the Week” by Live Nation / Ones To Watch.
