Wichita Falls-based singer-songwriter Scott Walker unveils a tender, heartfelt piece with his latest single “This Is What Love Can Feel Like,” released on September 24, 2025. Written, recorded, and produced entirely in his home studio, the song gets personal in Walker’s evolving artistry.
Drawing from the emotional storytelling of Dashboard Confessional, Goo Goo Dolls, and Third Eye Blind, he weaves a nostalgic and refreshingly genuine soundscape. Currently serving as an active-duty member of the U.S. Air Force, Walker channels his life experience, discipline, and empathy into a song dedicated to his partner’s healing and rediscovery after sexual abuse, through the meeting of their souls.
The track begins with softly strummed acoustic guitar as it establishes a warm mood. Walker’s husky, light-toned voice comes very gentle and soothing, while being sensitive and beneath its calm surface. His vocal delivery feels intimate, like he’s sitting across from you, recounting a story that matters deeply. He portrays the resilience and heartbreak his woman has been through, with the line, “Midnight air and moonless sky, she walks all alone / She raises her daughter to return the love she’s lost” pulling the listener straight into his emotional narrative.
What stands out most is the song’s structure, eschewing the standard pop format for something more fluid and organic. After each verse, the arrangement subtly shifts with small bridges, letting the melody breathe and emotions build naturally. The production blossoms gradually, layering gentle percussion, airy harmonies, and lush acoustic textures. Walker builds it up to how the pain all subsided as love was finally found, as he sings, “When her eyes meet mine / This is what love can feel like,” while his voice is surrounded by ethereal backing vocals that shimmer like light breaking through clouds.
The song closes in a glistening swell of sound, leaving behind warmth and reflection. “This Is What Love Can Feel Like” testifies to renewal and to finding beauty where once there was pain.
