LEEKAYJA’s latest EP, “…too catchy, therefore worthless…,” is a compelling seven-track exploration of the artistic potential of blending modern technology with the realm of music. What particularly surprised me was that the very humane-sounding vocals on the EP are produced with software. The Italian artist LEEKAYJA proved to be beyond everyone’s league with this creative and futuristic direction to music.
The EP kicks off with “Annoying Whisper,” setting the tone with its deliberate and delicate string arrangement. The song begins slowly, drawing the listener in with subtlety. As the track unfolds, driving guitars break through, accompanied by glitzy beats. What’s particularly intriguing is the use of a virtual voice that exudes both edge and passion.
Moving on to the fourth track, “Sometimes We Lose,” the EP continues to captivate with its inventive soundscapes. Here, heavy, addictive beats and immersive musical elements take center stage. The virtual voice, shrouded in mystery and contemplation, guides the listener as the soundscape shimmers with an irresistible pulse.
As the EP draws to a close with “Opposites,” it maintains its enigmatic and engaging style with dark and mystical vocals. The song continually intrigues with jamming, driving guitars, rhythmic drumming, and glimmering synth lines.
In “…too catchy, therefore worthless…,” LEEKAYJA demonstrates a willingness to push the boundaries of music by incorporating cutting-edge technology into his artistry. This EP offers a unique listening experience that spans a range of emotions and moods, from delicate and contemplative to pulsating and edgy.
