Born from an annual weekend retreat where friends gather purely to create, Two Words is a snapshot of collaboration in its most natural form. Vocalists, rappers, beat-makers, and producers came together with no grand plan, with only the instinct to make sound and see where it leads. That free-flowing approach results in five tracks that feel like photos from the same trip: different moods, same heartbeat. Kate Pending curates the projectโs sonic palette with collaborators who lean into the intimacy of improvisation, letting emotion lead every choice.
Right from the start, โHibiskusโ arrives as spoken-word poetry rather than song, as thick, deep, rippling chords support Patrizia Carlucciโs German narration written by Michael Huber. The piece describes a flower straining toward sunlight it never quite reaches, a metaphor delivered in calm, sincere tones while the production (by Kate Pending and HARRiSON FiAT) pulses like a slow-beating heart. Itโs short, but it sets the emotional stakes, with longing that refuses to quit.
Then, the EP exhales into โNothing Changes,โ where soft female vocal layers drift over a broken-beat rhythm. Melancholic yet warm, its Future Garage / Chillstep shimmer feels like late-night reflection after everyone else has gone to bed. Kate Pending teams with VOID LOOP and CRLCC here to produce something cloudy, close, and beautifully undone.
Soon after, the energy lifts with โWalk Away,โ a deep-house release built on snapping percussion and shimmering synths. Ethereal wails float into the mix like light glancing off water, while a steady, grounding beat keeps the track moving forward, with meditation in motion.
The introspective pull returns on โBegging Blank,โ where glowing synths and fractured rhythms blur between sadness and resilience, as if the song is still making up its mind.
Finally, โMonkey Dustโ closes the EP with cinematic stillness, with airy, nostalgic tones drifting through sharp but patient beats.
Two Words proves that when people make space for connection, the songs write themselves. Listen to it on Spotify.
