untethered (side two) by Dylan Goff: EP Review
The serenity in Dylan Goffโs music is unmistakable. The folk musicianโs EP โuntethered (side two)โ embodies themes of sorrow, yet speaks thoroughly with musical therapy. Atmospherically abundant with acoustic sequences the EP has five emotional numbers that you just might cherish for the days to come.
Initiating with the pensiveness of โI Get Lostโ we witness Dylanโs powerful ode. The track begins with a soft vocal section followed by acoustic guitar pluckings. I solemnly admired the tone used to bring out the richness of the guitar here. Itโs a bit like reverb and chorus mixed together for a clean sound. Mixed with rising and falling transitions the song is a must-hear, especially the piano ending segment. โBehold Our Smilesโ has a playful tune with a beat. The musical structure follows a classic easy-listening aura and is heavenly to experience. Itโs just what I needed for a wintery Monday afternoon, all the while keeping my spirits up for the week ahead!
The EP ends with โOld Argyle Sweaterโ, a piano-heavy number guaranteed to tug on your heartstrings. The musicianโs voice is much more weighty here, and the pianoโs chord structure blends beautifully to keep us hooked. Melodically sound, and gripping, Dylanโs artistic nuances were charming to witness. This is especially the case for the last track. It has this lovely pop cadence as soon as the beat drops and reminds me of a story unfolding. Overall the EP was quite moving and I urge you all to give it a listen.
