Virginia Constantine release a new single โWhen I Get Over Youโ
When you sing, itโs instinctive. The most important thing is to be sincere and to get into the emotion of the moment. I love to sing ballads, although I also like songs that move. You have to let yourself be carried away by the music and know how to expose yourself if you want to reach people. Regarding the album Reset to Love which should be released in Spring 2022, I made the choice of original songs to follow the album of jazz covers The Bumpy Road to Love. I have been composing for a long time and I wanted to offer my listeners a more personal album. It will still contain four covers: You go to my head, a jazz standard, When I get over you, an English title taken up in particular by Randy Crawford, Be thou my vision, an Irish church song as well as the music of the film โLes 400 coupsโ by Franรงois Truffaut on which I wrote English lyrics: Midnight Lullaby.
Daughter of the famous singer-songwriter Jean Constantin, who composed, among other things, โMon manรจge ร moiโ for Edith Piaf, โMa gigoletteโ for Yves Montand and the music for the film โLes 400 coupsโ by Franรงois Truffaut, Virginia studies the piano. classical for 15 years before opting for singing and composing. Her father passed on her passion for Jazz and from the age of 16, she performed in Parisian clubs, inspired in particular by the legendary Sarah Vaughan to whom she had boundless admiration. At 18, she opened for Dave at the Olympia. She will then be a chorister for Laurent Voulzy, Michel Sardou, Richard Gotainer, will record commercials and will lend her voice to Marilyn Monroe in the review Bonheur du Lido de Paris.
At the end of the 90s, she moved to London where she developed her talent as a singer-songwriter by collaborating with various Anglo-Saxon producers and composers, including Dennis Lambert, half of the famous American duo โPotter and Lambertโ who composed many hits during Motownโs heyday. Keith Wozencroft, famous for having discovered the band Radiohead, among other things, offered her an artist contract with EMI/Parlophone but she eventually signed with the independent label โThe Echo Label Ltdโ. Alas, following contractual disputes, the album will never see the light of day.
