Perth-based composer and producer Paul Frazer Clarke has been around the musical block more than a few times, and it shows in the thoughtful craft of โVisions of a Changing World.โ Drawn from his album Backstories From A Soundtrack To Life, the track blends conscious soul, jazz-funk, and hip-hop reflection into something that feels retro-minded and strikingly present-day.
Clarke brings decades of experience to the table, working across genres and media, yet here he keeps the focus squarely on message and mood. To bring that vision to life, he teams up with powerhouse vocalist Sharin Attamimi and spoken-word artist Denairo, whose contrasting styles give the track heart and perspective.
The song opens with smacking, engaging beats that settle into a steady groove, while soft backing vocals drift through the atmosphere like a warm breeze. Right off the bat, Sharin Attamimiโs lush, rich, and effortlessly soulful voice takes center stage. She glides into the refrain, singing, โI see visions of a changing world around me,โ so smoothly that it feels comforting and quietly urgent. She brings weight, as if sheโs gently nudging listeners to open their eyes a little wider.
Just when the track settles into that soulful pocket, Denairo steps in with a cool, reflective spoken-word passage that shifts the tone without breaking the groove. He reminisces about earlier days, back when Walkmans carried the soundtrack of life and music seemed to have more soul, when hope felt easier to hold onto, and life moved at a simpler pace. His words roll out casually but land with a nostalgic punch, capturing that bittersweet contrast between past optimism and todayโs uncertain climate.
Then, like the tide rolling back in, Attamimi returns to the mic. Her soothing voice weaves once again through the jazzy rhythm. These two bring the song full circle, taking turns. The track grooves effortlessly while still holding a mirror up to the moment, with a smooth, thoughtful listen that invites reflection without ever losing its cool.
