Emerging from Lehi, Utah, Valiancyโhelmed by Kyle Harrisโdrops a heavy emotional weight with โVoices,โ a self-written, self-produced single released on January 29, 2026. Drawing from the introspective depths of artists like Peter Gabriel and James Blake, the track leans into vulnerability headfirst, tackling mental health, depression, and the exhausting battle with inner demons. Itโs stark, intimate, and unapologetically dark.
โVoicesโ opens on a thick, ominous drone. A gritty pulse hums underneath, setting a slow-burning tension before Harrisโs voice slips in, low, breathy, and aching. His vocals feel almost fragile, as if they might collapse under their own weight, yet that fragility is exactly what gives them power. When the beat finally lands, it thumps with restraint rather than force, mirroring the numb, despondent tone of the lyrics. He sings, โI just wanna feel something so right / But you know you never love me,โ hit hard because theyโre barely held together.
The production is sparse but textured, with Moog synthesizers adding an analog warmth that buzzes and broods in the background. Backing vocals drift in like distant echoes, haunting and ghostly, reinforcing the sense of being trapped inside oneโs own head. As the song unfolds, it doesnโt rush toward relief. Instead, it sits with discomfort, even touching on suicidal thoughts in a way that feels raw rather than sensationalized. Itโs unsettling, but itโs also honest.
Recorded at Venice International Studios and mixed by Harris himself, โVoicesโ stands out as a personal piece of work. This work does make you feel seen, and sometimes, thatโs exactly whatโs needed.
