Walking Towards Eternity by Filip Dahl: Review
Filip Dahl is a musician and composer from Norway who plays a variety of instruments. In the 1970s, he began his career in the music industry as the lead guitarist for a number of Norwegian rock bands. Later in his life, he went on to establish himself as an accomplished engineer and music producer. Filipโs song โWalking Towards Eternityโ is an emotional instrumental ode that will shake your very core. It feels as though the guitar is screaming out of sheer sentiment. Everything about Filipโs playing style and his phrasing is versatile and feels exceptionally polished.
โWalking Towards Eternityโ is a beautiful name for a song, for starters, I would just like to preface that. The track has this wonderful blend of distorted electric guitar solos combined with the background of subtle acoustic guitar chords. It will make you feel like a rainy night when tragedy hits you, and nothing but a drink can soothe your aching soul. Or, maybe something a little more for the hopeless romantic, let the guitar structure and pull-offs remind you of being with your paramour, safe in their arms away from all toxicity of the world.
There are some subtle transitions in the track. But, overall โWalking Towards Eternityโ feels like a beast awakening from slumber only to unleash a howl of electrifying notes from the guitar that range from classic rock and the blues. Thereโs something incredibly touching about Filipโs playing technique, something which takes years of practice to master, and he does it effortlessly!
