Harpa brings about a strong message of power alongside melodic bluesy-rock in their latest single, ‘What The Hell’.The Nottingham, UK-based rock band released ‘What The Hell’ on the 1st of November and has quickly since gained critical acclaim in the music scene. Drawing on the celestial-like influences of Evanescence and Florence & the Machine, Harpa dedicates this provocative and compelling track to those learning to stand up for themselves, especially in a world that tries to oppress them.
The track opens with an intricate guitar solo and is then picked up by Harpa in a rich and smoky baritone. The female lead vocalist animatedly brings up the dilemma that is being tackled, and by the time she reaches the moment of realization, her rhythm goes high and she gains bouts of lively energy, making the situation more pronounced. Accompanied by strong sets of guitars and drums for the entirety of the song, the track is tightly packed with electrifying sparks of power, especially with her angelic vocals bringing light to a situation that is quite prominent a theme in today’s society.
Harpa is a four-piece act and has been successfully taken to audiences in and around Nottingham with tracks like ‘What The Hell’. The anthemic melody they produce is reminiscent of the rock ballads of the past, and the clever twist of a modern edge they include in all their music is quite endearing.
