The 20-year-old singer-songwriter from New Jersey, Mia Giovina, releases her debut EP, “Without A Note,” this Oct 26.
Of the five tracks, the opener, “Deathbed” starts with contemplative guitar strumming. We have Mia’s vocals echoing delicately still maintaining a heaving depth. It introspectively sets a mature mood with her lyricism,
The stand-out track, “Losing Time” reveals Mia’s storytelling prowess. The song is immersive, with the music swelling as she delves into themes of growing up and dreaming. The lyrics provide a sense of reflection and introspection while being highly relatable for young adults.
The EP’s title track, “Without a Note,” is a heartfelt song about unrequited love, however the theme also works for breakups. The guitar is heavily strummed against Mia singing out her storytelling vocals strung with passion. She conveys a sense of loss and longing, with self-doubt bleeding through the lines like “there’s gotta be something the matter with me for you to go without a note.”
Mia Giovina showcases her songwriting talent and we find that we can connect with her on a personal level. Her entry to vulnerability is very Olivia Rodrigo-esque. So fans can undoubtedly give Mia’s emotive and relatable approach to music a spin.
