1punch by IreQ Savage: Review
IreQ Savage’s latest genre-defying single 1punch packs a lot of punch in just over a minute and a half. The song is a brilliant amalgamation of hip-hop, metal, trap, pop, and electronica.
The track is heavy right off the bat with IreQ screaming “Whatchu got to say?” The main theme of the song is people are always gonna be critical of you no matter what you do so you might as well do as you please. This message is delivered through the heaviest heartfelt vocals over genre-bending instrumentations by the producer of this track, Areo. The song’s tittering melody takes you through the track and as IreQ pours out his emotions. The trap influences in the melody’s low register are emphasized by the push in the higher register. In spite of its sparseness, the melody is driven by a few potent parts that add just the appropriate amount of weight to the track. The multiple overlays of bright melodies are balanced out with the deep syncopated beats and the rumbling bass.
The song is like a perfect storm that comes, sweeps everything standing in its way, and leaves before you wondering what just happened. The song’s arrangement, the beat, IreQ’s rap verses, everything in this song just comes in and sweeps you out like that storm. Need a short break to take out your frustration or a boost in energy for that PR at the gym? This track just might be the one to give you that kick.
