Love will tear us apart by BIAS: Review

BIAS is an electronic music artist whose fitting tribute to the English rock band Joy Division is indeed a refreshing take. The band’s track “Love will tear us apart” gets a unique electronica makeover with BIAS guiding the way.

There was a time when Joy Division’s track was the heartbreak hit to soothe all wandering souls in search of an answer to their woes. Music is such an influential part of the youth, without it our sorrows would have no outlet. So, BIAS channels that same sentiment through his groovy electronic version of the iconic rock hit. The melody embarks on a synth-heavy path, and the journey is truly a catchy one. With some interesting techno-beat style chord structures, and the singer’s passionate voice to keep the music upbeat, it was a worthy listen. I always enjoyed listening to Joy Division’s moody vocals on the original track, but in BIAS’ cover number, there is a hint of pop and drive in the essence of the track. So whenever he sings “love will tear us apart” it truly hits hard, not that Joy Division didn’t bring the same sentiment, but rather BIAS has this contemporary punch.

The artist BIAS is an Imola-born musician, producer, and composer known as Gian Luca Biasini (BO). According to Gian Luca, the BIAS music project was conceived during the 2020 lockdown, a time in which he played and wrote extensively while shifting his approach to songwriting and composition.
