Across The Night’s Ceiling by San Rocco: Review
San Rocco has released their latest single, “Across The Night’s Ceiling.” after several months of writing and recording the song in a small Dublin studio. The song’s strong beat and passionate vocals are propelled by inspired by bands such as Joy Division and David Bowie, as well as modern superstars Beck and Kevin Parker.
“Across The Night’s Ceiling” by San Rocco meditate on themes of loneliness and alienation and refers to the post-punk genre while putting their twist on it with a memorable chorus and bouncing synth melodies. The song features a Joy Division-like rhythm section with two basslines leading the way for the cathartic vocal melodies take the front stage. The percussions are just as punchy as the basslines with the cymbals and hi-hats adding some spark to it but the bass-heavy rhythm section is still the star of the show if not the vocals.
San Rocco’s Across The Night’s Ceiling debut video was created by Ashley Horner of Pinball Film, a native of the United Kingdom and a former lead guitarist for shoegaze royalty Pale Saints and Leeds outfit The Edsel Auctioneer. He shoots the video in the picturesque environment of Whittle Dene in Northumberland, England.
Light is a creative communication element in the artist’s imaginative voyage. The warm, penetrating light from above permeates the quiet woodland floor, bringing it to life. The video focuses on the ethereal moments as a miraculous recovery. A day’s meeting ended and left in a sad, distant flash of light.
