Belgian power-pop band CMON CMON’s latest single, “All The Other Kids,” released on November 8, 2024, teases the upcoming Headwind EP. This song explores reality with contrasts between youthful lens and adult realities, blending 16-year-old and 46-year-old expectations.
“All The Other Kids” opens with lush, jangly guitar riffs that quickly build into a vibrant, full-bodied sound. Drums hit sharply, adding intensity as Jorrit Hermans’ charismatic, storytelling voice enters with warmth and youthful exuberance. The harmonies, supported by bassist Steven Omblets and drummer Michel Becx, bring a soulful quality that adds emotional depth to the track. Producer James Brown’s Hammond organ and piano contribute a nostalgic, almost timeless feel that underscores the song’s themes of longing and everyday dreams.
The lyrics touch on the idea of finding beauty and value in “ordinary dreams.” As the standout line goes, “Maybe we just have ordinary dreams about the future.” This line infers that finding meaning in the everyday can be as powerful as reaching for the extraordinary because seeing ordinary things differently might be the secret to everything.
“All The Other Kids” continues the band’s momentum following the success of their debut album, produced by Grammy-nominated Alex Newport. With Headwind, recorded at Trypoul Studio and mixed at JBJ Studios, CMON CMON takes a step further into delivering emotionally resonant, power-pop anthems. Check them out on Spotify.
