Are You Thinking Of Me? by The Starkillers: Review
The indie rock quartet hailing from Salt Lake City, Utah, The Starkillers gives the listeners an exciting peek of their upcoming debut album with its title track, โAre You Thinking Of Me?โ
The song revolves around the idea of a relationship that might be one-sided and its difficulties. At one point you realize you cannot really force anyone into loving you and if you stay with that person, the relationship would likely remain unbalanced forever and you would suffer.
Starting with Scintillating guitars reverberating over the atmosphere, hyping up with thumping percussions, and a chorus shouting โare you thinking of me?โ, the song couldnโt ask for a better intro. Itโs clear as day the band knows very well how to catch even the most casual listenerโs attention. It is followed by the lead singer Jon Omenโs seductive airy singing accompanied by an equally fat bassline. As the song progresses to its bridge the guitars and Jonโs vocals become grittier and it reaches soaring heights during the chorus. The recurring vocal harmonization between the chorus and verses gives the song a nice indie vibe. The song goes through many stylistic changes during different parts of it but the band is so dynamic with their arrangement that they make it look effortless. Especially, the control Jon Omen has on his vocals is just mind-blowing. If you ever wonder what would it sound like if The Killers, The Strokes, and Foster the People formed a supergroup, you should give The Starkillers a listen.
