ExclusiveBoy D returns with Attention II Detail, a smooth, nostalgia-laced R&B project that doubles as both homage and reinvention. Hailing from Lumberton, North Carolina, he leans into the lush textures of ‘90s soul while sharpening his own artistic identity. After experimenting with darker tones in his previous work, this time he flips the script, opting for warmth, intention, and emotional patience. Drawing inspiration from legends like Jodeci and Babyface, yet keeping his ear tuned to modern sensibilities, the album feels like a slow dance between eras, stitched together with care, chemistry, and, well… attention to detail.
Right off the bat, “1994 BPM” sets the mood with a hazy, almost dreamlike soundscape. The beat feels submerged, like it’s drifting through fog, while his vocals slide in, raspy, slightly eerie, but undeniably seductive. There’s a push-and-pull energy here, as if he’s testing the waters of intimacy without diving in headfirst. It’s moody, a little mysterious, and honestly, it hooks you before you even realize it.
Then comes the title track, “Attention To Detail,” and things start to bloom. The opening is all warmth, soft, swirling strings wrapping around the listener like silk. The female vocalist enters with a soaring ethereality, and soon the duet takes shape. Their voices intertwine effortlessly, trading vulnerability and desire in equal measure. When the horns glide in during the bridge, slow and deliberate, the whole track exhales into an intimate and classic R&B groove.
All in all, Attention II Detail is about the in-between. The glances, the pauses, the subtle shifts. ExclusiveBoy D crafts a listening experience that asks you to slow down and feel every moment.
