Ava Toton releases flaming new song ‘Like A Girl’
Northern Californian rock singer, guitarist, and songwriter Ava Toton is 13 years old. Her most recent original song releases, ‘Like A Girl’ and ‘Embers,’ have just been made available on all music streaming services. Her debut EP A.V.A. at 11 (2021) and the follow-up Charm School Dropout at 12 are followed by ‘Like a Girl’ and ‘Embers’ (2022).
Ava co-writes her lyrics and composes her own music. She also plays all of the guitar and sings. Jacob Light handled the singles’ production, recording, mixing, and mastering at Modern Tone Studios in Lafayette, California. Gideon Berger (Useless ID, War Bison, Kill The Drive) plays drums, and Jacob Light plays bass guitar.
The melancholy, driving song ‘Embers’ is about being depressed but not out, while the song ‘Like a Girl’ celebrates female empowerment. The guitar solos for these songs were laboriously crafted by Ava, and they are enjoyable to hear again and again. These songs were chosen by Ava to be released together because they capture the sometimes wildly fluctuating emotions that people encounter every day. Kind of the yin and yang of the typical person navigating daily life.
