Blanche Baillargeon releases captivating new track ‘Je connais la joie qui habite chez toi’

The double bassist describes forest rustling, bird flight, and landscape light with her exceptional melody.
‘Le nid: Face A’ begins with a soft, airy voice over a double bass. Blanche sings, “If you don’t hear me, I’m not talking to you”. What’s she concealing?
Music begins. Birth, love, fragility, and strength play out in the nest. . “Le vol,” a flute-cello duet, follows. The hymn ‘Je connais la joie qui habite chez toi’ borrows Brazil’s spectacular batucadas.
The A-side ends with the “Circular Interlude,” where the felt of a piano gets tangled up with the fleshy bows of the double bass in a careful sound recording. ‘Le nid’ follows ‘Paysages du jour tranquille’ (2015). ц (Ralph Boncy).
The composer’s eagerly awaited new album, beautifully illustrated by Marin Blanc, features more assertive music than Paysages and abundant, life-filled paintings.
