Avatar by Marc Bird: Review
Marc Bird shows his melodic taste through a sense of existentialism with the trippy number “Avatar”. The vibrant mish-mash of the guitar sequences and the wholesome attribute of the vocals have a gentle aura with a deeper meaning behind it.
“Avatar” has a fascinating message related to human connection, and losing touch with companions regardless of such a carefully knit network. We hear Marc’s essence come into the spotlight through the spoken word like singing with an intriguing blend of psychedelic-style instrumentation. Talking about themes of human connection in our society today give songs a very dark undertone, but is equally fascinating to hear. It is in these moments, that the calming vibrations of Avatar’s acoustic chords send waves within our psyche that ponder upon thy self.
As the crescendo of the percussion and guitar meet to form a unique bond of kaleidoscopic dreams, the band as a whole demonstrates an impeccable ability to stay within a similar era of sound that dominated the 60s. Deep lyrical themes need an identical fragment of music that goes along with it. And what better, than to add a polished but mysterious vibe to your melody? The lead guitar elements sound like echoes in time, or memories worth remembering demonstrated hypnotically through the detailed reverb of the notes. “Avatar” is a pleasant walk down memory lane through its nostalgic genre of escapism and melody. It is a short track but manages to create an otherworldly feeling all the while.
