Mark Masguro’s brand-new album, B-Emo: To be Emotional is not a Suggestion It is the Lifestyle, dropped on August 6th, 2025, and it’s as much a manifesto as it is a record. Based in Zürich, Masguro draws from his eclectic past—spanning Italo-Disco, Hip-Hop, Acid House, and Trance—while bringing in collaborators Ariana Celaeno, Kael Sott, and Beatman to add even more color and grit.
The introductory “Whispers,” is short and sweet, under two minutes, but it punches above its weight. A trippy synth patters and pulses at the core while a breathy female harmony floats in and out like it’s part of the percussion itself. Over that, the lead vocal comes in steady, almost detached, but somehow still hypnotic, giving the track a sleek, dreamlike aura. Then there’s “Devil’s Trap,” which switches gears into something raw and gut-wrenching. Minimal, rumbling beats lay the groundwork for soaring, anguished vocals, only to be sliced through by a cool, controlled rap verse. It’s the tension between chaos and calm that makes it stick.
By the time you get to “Get Down,” it’s clear why the track has racked up over 93k plays on Spotify. It’s the most straightforwardly catchy moment on the record with hard-hitting beats, swelling strings, and an emotive and commanding vocal performance. You can feel every ounce of vibrato in the singer’s delivery, thawing you out as she belts with full force. And then, closing with “Bitter Pill – Radio Edit,” Masguro turns up the cinematic dial. Dueting male and female vocals twist together, the woman molten and sensuous, the man gravelly and grounded, while the beats keep hammering and immersive layers float above. Lyrically, it’s a gut-punch meditation on collapse and resilience, asking whether love can withstand the inevitable fall.
