North California indie rock trio Goddamn Wolves is back with a new single, “Barricades Are Overrun,” that’s sure to blow you away and keep you afloat. The band has crafted a sound that’s both nostalgic and fresh, blending elements of classic rock with modern influences.
The song is relaxing, exhilarating and engaging at the same time. The song has guitars fuzzing up as they riff hard and drive it forward. The music folds our ears in a wall of sound as the music grinds hard. Meanwhile, the drums thump hard and fast, trapping the intensity in a tight bustle. The cymbals splash and sizzle. But the dueting singers, Chris Weilding and Laura McCullough, have a high and airy voice and they sing like they are on air. They sing exhilaratingly with their voices soulfully floating. The duo’s harmonies are a highlight of the track, creating a lightness and expanding the field.
“Barricades Are Overrun” is a high-energy track that’s sure to get your adrenaline rushing while your heart is rested. The song’s catchy chorus is instantly memorable, and the vocals are full of passion and emotion.
The song has a B-side, “Intervention,” which is a more laid-back track that showcases the band’s versatility. It requires a check, as well, because it’s nailed in the band’s history.
Goddamn Wolves is a band on the rise, and “Barricades Are Overrun” is a strong indication of their potential. Check it out on Spotify.
