Ben Fairey released tuneful new single ‘Boomerang’
Previous works by Ben Fairey have touched on the well-known modern music themes, such as falling in and out of love or dancing away your sorrows. He is a narrator to humanity with a wider field of vision, laying down a reality for people to observe, unlike every other young artist who audaciously proclaims the real, lived experience of their music.
His most recent work amply demonstrates the reality of songs about love and human connection in the contemporary world of technological dependence and ever-assuming self-identity for the majority of people.
A smooth bounce beat with lyrics that describe an impromptu fling between two club-goers at opposite ends. In his song “Silent disco vibes, your headphone disguise,” Fairey sings a poetic allegory of the contemporary hookup scene, which muddles authentic experiences with background noise. Many people don’t share their realities and instead stay in their own bubbles, as if they were at a silent disco. Ironically, the artificial environment that was intended to bring the two strangers together ends up being too disruptive. They stop flirting and eventually look for a different location to complete their conversation.
