Beware Wolves by Beware Wolves: Album Review
The music of Beware Wolves has always pertained to the notion of heartfelt acoustic music. The artist blends the genres of indie, country, Americana, and folk sensationally into a delicate album. Having the same title as the artist, this album captures wholesome melodies through eleven gripping tracks.
The album opens up with the moody elements of “Blackout” it is a folksy tune that is reminiscent of songs from the diaries of yesteryear. Something about the minimal instrumental bits of Beware Wolves has always resonated with me. With just a trusty guitar by their side, it’s all they need to capture the hearts of an indie soul. In more intimate numbers such as “Envy of Stars” a nightly tale comes alive. The acoustic melodies and songwriting aspects feel much more personal, and the movement within the melody is perfect to hear as you gaze at the moon on a quiet night. As we move forward with the album we encounter a playful tune in “Rather Be Fishing.” It is one of the rarer songs on the album that involve a bit of percussion in the mix. The upbeat tone sounds fresh, and the cadence is easy to vibe out with!
Almost reaching the end of the album I come across the ambient piece “U.S. Mail.” The significance of this number is brought alive due to the soothing chords and the singer’s allure. The energetic blues rock pull of “Water & Stone” was delightful to hear, especially the bass sections!
