Beware Wolves, Vol.4 by Beware Wolves: Album Review
Paddling silently over a misty lake in the dead of winter to the sounds of Beware Wolves is my idea of solitary bliss. The album โBeware Wolves, Vol.4โ offers a safe haven for your soul with its charming blend of folk music and indie dream elements.
The 9-piece album ushers forth a new wave of liberated, harmonious music. Beware Wolves proves beyond a reasonable doubt that he is a talented songwriter and singer, especially when he has his faithful acoustic guitar at his side. Songs like โIn the Rainโ provide us with a comforting blanket of guitar pickings that keep our imaginations ablaze despite the gloomy atmosphere. The singer has an air of foretelling in his songs, giving them the feel of storybook prophecies. Plus, the bluesy fingerstyle and acoustic guitar playing are a pleasant surprise.
Julyโs rousing buildup to a crescendo was pure Americana at its finest. The baritone voice on the reverberated acoustic rhythm decided to captivate me with a song that was made for hitting the road and going on adventures you never knew you were capable of having. The songwriting skills of the singer really shine through in โHow We Roll,โ with its lofi-sounding acoustic guitar clapping that gives you a sense of rock and roll without the beats but the same feeling. The album bids adieu with โLay Down Loveโ. It is a soulful and emotional track that involves impressive guitar chords with some interesting filler sequences.
