Big Bad Wolf by Nobody’s Wolf Child: Review
Returning to a darker sound, ‘Big Bad Wolf’, the latest single from London-based artist Nobody’s Wolf Child is a dark, brooding track that unleashes the wolf within.
Starting with a gritty pulsating electronic rhythm, the whispered parts build the tension instilling an eerie feeling and setting the tone for the song. As the heavy beats and the hard-hitting percussions are added the song unleashes its wild energy with Nobody’s Wolf Child taking the mic with her seductive, untamed vocals. The electronic rhythms get grittier and heavier in a ‘The Dead Weather’ fashion. The dark imagery and the theatrical antics go hand-in-hand with the lyrical theme of the song. The song gradually grows in intensity before toning it down for the hauntingly beautiful bridge section. This is the calm before the storm. Right before the finish, the song goes all out as Nobody’s Wolf Child unleashes the big bad wolf in her in all its glory in a wild untamed crescendo. The song could not have asked for a better ending.
The accompanying music video puts visuals to the wild untamed theme of the song. The video might strike as unsettling to some because of its dark, gore theme, but that’s the beauty of wild things. The makeup team did an excellent job bringing the nightmarish imagery to life along with the vfx team. The music video perfectly brings together the song making it a complete audio-visual experience.
