Sabina Chantouria has done it again. After reviewing her previous single, “Echoes,” and seeing it soar—quite literally, making it onto global airline playlists—I am once seeing her shine like never before with a more introspective song, full of growth and perspective. Her latest release, “Changes,” is a warm, windswept anthem of transformation, like a new beginning and a homecoming. The track opens with the soft receding of ocean waves. Then comes the gentle, unhurried acoustic guitar, followed by Sabina’s low, soothing vocals, humming with quiet anticipation. It’s subtle at first, but there’s a fire underneath, and as the piano joins in, her voice begins to lift with passion and heart. Midway through, the drums kick in, cymbals sparkle, and just like that, the song blooms into something grander in its calmness, like acceptance itself, changing into optimism.
What makes “Changes” hit so hard is how natural it all feels. Sabina lives in the emotion, you can tell, hearing her sing with her rich and grounded voice, almost like she’s telling you a truth you already knew but needed to hear out loud.
“You can’t stop what’s coming / It’s coming anyway,” she sings, at one with inevitability. The lyrics embrace uncertainty with grace, a theme that couldn’t be more timely in these difficult times.
The music video lifts the sound, shot by Makho Kipshidze. It’s just Sabina on a boat, her flowing dress caught in the sea breeze, singing to the horizon. Nothing flashy, just nature, movement, and presence. It fits the song like a glove.
Produced by Dave Jenkins (of Dolly Parton fame), the single also boasts an A-list team: Kenny Aronoff on drums, Ed Roth on piano, Doug Pettibone on guitar, and Jorgen Carlsson on bass. Together, they create a rich Americana-pop soundscape.
