Big No No by Big No No: Album Review
Uplifting rock at its finest, Big No No arrives with their gritty self-titled album. From energetic guitar riffs to an electrifying vocal presence the Stockholm-based act gives it their all in this collection. Ten tracks, with each packed for a quick dose of melodic dopamine. Are you ready?
The album opens up with the lively piece “Cracks.” We get introduced to the band’s exuberant instrumentation and youthful vocals. Everything about this track from the galloping bass section to the atmospheric rock guitars just oozed excitement. Next up is the punk rock tune “Comeback Kid”, this is where the band’s extreme rock presence is explored. With just over two minutes in length, the high intensity of this track initiates with a vibing bassline and a rebellious singing presence. Eventually, powerful guitars enter the mix and take the track’s delight up a notch.
Psychedelia with a dash of classic rock greets us in “She’s a Caribou.” From phased-out guitar tones and trippy melodic passages, the enlightenment of this song strikes hard. Exiting the album with melodic rock tunes such as “Le Mot Mot Ment” and “Doing Your Best Work” resonated immensely. I found the guitar segments of the last two pieces to be quite gratifying ‘cause of the classic punk rock presence. There’s magic in the guitarist’s fingers as the riffs feel quite epic to hear alongside the fuzzed-out distorted tone. Ultimately, Big No No’s album is superb and I hope their fate is tied with the big leagues.
