Big No No by Big No No: Album Review
Uplifting rock at its finest, Big No No arrives with their gritty self-titled album. From energetic guitar riffs to an electrifying vocal presence the Stockholm-based act gives it their all in this collection. Ten tracks, with each packed for a quick dose of melodic dopamine. Are you ready?
The album opens up with the lively piece โCracks.โ We get introduced to the bandโs exuberant instrumentation and youthful vocals. Everything about this track from the galloping bass section to the atmospheric rock guitars just oozed excitement. Next up is the punk rock tune โComeback Kidโ, this is where the bandโs extreme rock presence is explored. With just over two minutes in length, the high intensity of this track initiates with a vibing bassline and a rebellious singing presence. Eventually, powerful guitars enter the mix and take the trackโs delight up a notch.
Psychedelia with a dash of classic rock greets us in โSheโs a Caribou.โ From phased-out guitar tones and trippy melodic passages, the enlightenment of this song strikes hard. Exiting the album with melodic rock tunes such as โLe Mot Mot Mentโ and โDoing Your Best Workโ resonated immensely. I found the guitar segments of the last two pieces to be quite gratifying โcause of the classic punk rock presence. Thereโs magic in the guitaristโs fingers as the riffs feel quite epic to hear alongside the fuzzed-out distorted tone. Ultimately, Big No Noโs album is superb and I hope their fate is tied with the big leagues.
