Aspen’s ever-eccentric cultural collective Staunch Moderates swings for the end zone again with “Bigfoot’s Football Live,” a tongue-in-cheek hip-hop sports anthem that folds satire, spectacle, and smugness into one spirited rally cry. The group, founded by Greg Simmons and Bo Persiko as a grassroots movement for civil discourse, has spent the past few years building a universe where hip-hop meets philosophy, mascots meet political commentary, and social reflection meets absurdist fun. Their latest single, pulled from Staunch Moderates Experience Live, doubles down on that oddball formula and somehow makes it feel inevitable.
Right out of the gate, the track leans into theatrics. An opening announcement sets the scene before the roar of a stadium crowd crashes in. Then the beat drops — upbeat, head-nodding, packed with bounce — and rapper Casanova Ace jumps on the mic with quick, catchy phrasing that sells the fantasy of a Bigfoot-themed franchise storming the league. His verses fire off football references with comic gusto, notching touchdowns, predicting Super Bowl wins, and promising to “run over competition like a big… ” — well, like a Bigfoot should.
As the track moves along, DJ Staunch’s mascot energy bleeds into the production, with call-and-response chants and repeated hooks (“The Bigfoots are coming”) hammering home the parody sports-anthem feel. Kyle Knight’s contributions tighten the flow, and the entire performance sits somewhere between a halftime show and a hip-hop victory lap, playful but delivered with full commitment.
The production keeps things bright and steady, surrounded by cheering samples, splashing percussion, and a beat built to get a crowd moving. It’s all spectacle by design — cartoonish, celebratory, and crafted for maximum fun — but beneath that, Staunch Moderates once again slip in their trademark mix of unity, cultural commentary, and communal joy.
With “Bigfoot’s Football Live,” the collective proves that even in a divided era, sometimes the quickest way to bring people together is through harmonious music and vitriolic sports.
