Out now on Don’t Play This at Home Records, HydraTek’s latest track “BioPunk” is an unapologetic plunge into a digital dystopia. Part of the compilation D.P.T.H., Vol. 2, this single is a fierce, high-voltage techno ride laced with the grit of electro, the breakneck edge of drum and bass, and all the gritty attitude of a cyberpunk fever dream.
From the get-go, “BioPunk” charges in with slithering, glitch-riddled synths, cranking like electric eels. The rhythm slaps hard, all industrial crunch and dirty basslines, creating a chaotic and calculated soundscape. It’s a proper Frankenstein of club textures, giving off distorted, buzzing, sharp as broken glass vibes, stitched together eerily.
Then there’s the voice. A cold, commanding AI female vocal, obviously synthetically generated, repeats the mantra: “Feel the power. Enter. Be.” It cuts through the noise like a hypnotic and oddly prophetic digital oracle.
HydraTek, already known for his surgically modern productions, doubles down on his signature aesthetic here with dark, high-stakes club energy wrapped in a dystopian screenplay. “BioPunk,” while engineered for the dancefloor, taps into the anxiety and adrenaline of our tech-obsessed age, fusing it all into a sonic revolt.
“BioPunk” is attention-grabbing, as it connects you with the lights off and your brain plugged in. HydraTek wants you to enter the circuit, feel the power, and become part of the machine. Only as a simulation, though, to remind you what you are already doing to yourself every day. Listen to it on Spotify.
